Real-Time Portfolio Valuation Engine for a Wealth Manager

CYVERRA VERIDION GROUP LTD engineered a distributed, event-driven portfolio valuation and trade routing platform for an international wealth management firm. The solution replaced disparate overnight batch processes with continuous intraday rebalancing and straight-through execution.

The Challenge

The client managed over €8.5B in client assets across multi-asset portfolios, yet relied on legacy monolithic systems that computed net asset values (NAV) and risk exposures through overnight batch runs. As a result, portfolio managers operated on T-1 valuations, limiting their ability to respond dynamically to intraday market volatility and execute timely tactical rebalancing. Operational friction was compounded by fragmented integrations with 14 external custodian banks and execution brokers. Trade orders required manual reconciliation across disparate interfaces, creating execution delays, operational risk, and occasional trade discrepancy breaks that required costly post-trade remediation. Furthermore, heightened regulatory demands under MiFID II and regional regulatory frameworks necessitated granular, immutable audit trails for every rebalancing recommendation, pre-trade compliance check, and execution routing decision.

Our Approach

CYVERRA embedded an enterprise engineering team to design and deploy a modern, cloud-native portfolio management and valuation architecture. We engineered high-performance calculation engines in Go and Rust, coupled with an Apache Kafka event backbone to process continuous market data feeds and streaming position updates with microsecond latency. We implemented a unified API integration layer connecting directly to custodian clearing networks and execution brokers via standardized FIX protocols and REST endpoints. Pre-trade compliance checks—including mandate constraints, UCITS limits, and ESG exclusion criteria—were embedded directly into the order pipeline as deterministic microservices, evaluating orders prior to broker dispatch. To ensure auditability and data integrity, CYVERRA implemented an event-sourced ledger on a distributed PostgreSQL and Redis cluster. This architecture captures every state change, price tick, and manual override in an immutable sequence, providing complete transparency for regulatory reporting and internal risk governance.

The Outcome

The deployment decommissioned legacy batch jobs in favor of real-time continuous valuation across 45,000 active portfolios. Portfolio managers gained immediate visibility into cash positions, risk metrics, and NAV movements, reducing multi-asset rebalancing execution cycles from several hours to under two minutes. Automated pre-trade compliance and direct FIX routing elevated straight-through processing rates to 99.4%, virtually eliminating trade entry errors and post-trade reconciliation bottlenecks. The platform has scaled seamlessly, supporting a 240% increase in daily trade volume while maintaining high availability and sub-second calculation performance.
