Multimodal Logistics Orchestration & Core Modernisation
CYVERRA designed and implemented an event-driven digital logistics platform integrating fleet telemetry, warehouse operations, and dynamic route orchestration. The solution replaced siloed legacy systems, delivering real-time operational visibility and automated shipment handling across 42 hub locations.

The Challenge
The client operated an extensive multimodal transport network across road, rail, and regional cross-docking facilities. Over years of regional acquisitions, the technology landscape had fragmented into disconnected transport management systems (TMS), legacy warehouse management systems (WMS), and bespoke local dispatch tools. Operational data was largely exchanged via batch EDI feeds and manual spreadsheet imports. Dispatchers and terminal managers lacked continuous end-to-end visibility into consignment status, resulting in frequent scheduling bottlenecks, prolonged terminal dwell times, and delayed exception reporting for commercial shippers. The absence of real-time telemetry processing also prevented dynamic route optimisation. Fleets were unable to adjust efficiently to transit disruptions, leading to avoidable empty mileage, manual driver reassignment overhead, and inconsistent SLA adherence across cross-border freight lanes.
Our Approach
CYVERRA engineered a cloud-native, event-driven integration and orchestration platform designed to unify data across all operational nodes. Using Apache Kafka as the central event broker, the solution continuously ingests telematics, GPS feeds, IoT temperature telemetry, and partner EDI transactions into a standardised canonical data model. On top of this event fabric, CYVERRA deployed microservices-based dispatch and terminal orchestration modules. These services automate cross-dock allocation, match available vehicle capacity with incoming consignments, and generate digital consignment documentation. Rule-based exception engines trigger automated alerting and rerouting workflows whenever delays or threshold violations occur. The delivery followed a domain-driven, progressive migration strategy. CYVERRA established comprehensive API gateways and bi-directional synchronisation adapters to interface with remaining core systems, allowing regional hubs to migrate incrementally with zero disruption to daily transport schedules.
The Outcome
The modernised digital platform unified network operations across 42 regional distribution centres and railheads, moving the organisation from retrospective batch reporting to continuous, event-driven execution. Terminal cross-dock dwell times dropped significantly due to automated load sequencing and pre-arrival notification workflows. Consignment status updates that previously took hours to consolidate are now delivered in near real-time across customer portals and carrier integrations. The reduction in manual data entry and improved load-matching algorithms yielded measurable decreases in empty running mileage and substantially accelerated the onboarding of third-party transport partners.
