Core ERP Modernisation for a Regional Multi-Utility Group
CYVERRA VERIDION GROUP replaced fragmented legacy business systems with a unified cloud ERP architecture across finance, supply chain, and asset management for a regional multi-utility group. The engagement integrated field service operations and procurement workflows into a single system of record, improving operational governance and capital project delivery.

The Challenge
Operating across municipal gas, clean water, and wastewater distribution networks, the utility maintained three disconnected legacy ERP instances resulting from historical municipal consolidations. Financial reporting, supply chain logistics, and capital project accounting required intensive manual reconciliations, creating persistent reporting lags and administrative overhead across operating units. Work order tracking and maintenance procurement relied on brittle batch interfaces and disconnected paper logs, leading to multi-week delays between capital asset deployments and their capitalisation in the general ledger. Field crews across regional depots struggled with inaccurate material visibility, often causing scheduling delays for critical infrastructure repairs and scheduled network upgrades.
Our Approach
CYVERRA designed and executed a phased enterprise ERP rollout, standardising the chart of accounts, inventory management, and plant maintenance processes across all operating divisions onto a modern SAP S/4HANA Cloud platform. We established a unified master data management framework that synchronised physical utility asset registries with enterprise balance sheets and operational work orders. To bridge the gap between back-office finance and distributed field operations, our engineering team integrated mobile field maintenance workflows and automated depot replenishment using event-driven middleware. Custom automated workflows were deployed for purchase requisitions, sub-contractor progress payments, and regulatory compliance reporting, ensuring end-to-end traceability from work order initiation through to statutory audit.
The Outcome
The consolidated ERP platform unified operations across 40+ facilities and regional depots, establishing a single source of truth for asset management, procurement, and financial reporting. Financial period-end closes were accelerated significantly, providing executive leadership with near-real-time visibility into capital expenditure and network maintenance costs. Operational efficiency improved across utility depots through accurate real-time inventory tracking and automated purchase order management. Automated compliance reporting and integrated asset lifecycle tracking eliminated audit discrepancies and reduced regulatory preparation efforts across regulated gas and water operations.
