Cloud Security Uplift for an International Retail Banking Core

CYVERRA VERIDION GROUP designed and implemented an enterprise zero-trust security architecture and automated threat response pipeline for a distributed banking core. The engagement reduced security incident triage latency while establishing continuous compliance with evolving DORA and PCI DSS standards.

The Challenge

The institution operated a hybrid infrastructure combining core on-premises transaction engines with expanding multi-cloud customer channels. This distributed topology introduced fragmented identity boundaries, disparate logging mechanisms, and excessive administrative privilege creep across production environments. Stricter regulatory requirements—including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and updated payment card security standards—demanded real-time cryptographic verification, granular segmentation, and provable audit trails. The existing security operations team was overwhelmed by high volumes of uncontextualised alerts, slowing incident verification and exposing payment interfaces to prolonged vulnerability windows. Furthermore, application deployment pipelines lacked automated security guardrails. Secrets management was decentralised, and manual security reviews created friction between engineering teams and security compliance officers, delaying the delivery of digital banking features.

Our Approach

CYVERRA structured a comprehensive security modernisation program centered on zero-trust principles, automated identity controls, and consolidated telemetry. We deployed an enterprise identity and access management fabric enforcing just-in-time access, mutual TLS authentication, and centralised secrets lifecycle automation across hybrid workloads. Our team architected and deployed an automated Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) pipeline integrated with next-generation endpoint detection and cloud security posture management tools. This framework automatically normalises telemetry, enriches indicators of compromise, and executes deterministic containment runbooks for anomalous payment microservices without requiring manual operator intervention. To bridge security and delivery cadences, CYVERRA integrated continuous policy-as-code validation into the CI/CD pipeline. Infrastructure deployments now undergo automated static analysis and vulnerability scanning prior to provisioning, ensuring baseline compliance is verified deterministically before workloads reach production.

The Outcome

The transformed security architecture established automated visibility across all core banking endpoints, payment gateways, and cloud workloads. Security analysts shifted from manual alert triage to strategic threat hunting, with anomalous network interactions and credential misuse automatically contained within seconds. Audit preparation and regulatory reporting cycles were significantly reduced through continuous compliance telemetry mapped directly to banking regulatory frameworks. The organisation successfully accelerated digital feature release cycles while maintaining a resilient, zero-trust defensive posture across all transactional touchpoints.
