Cloud Geospatial Data Platform for a National Environmental Agency
CYVERRA VERIDION GROUP designed and deployed a modernised cloud data lakehouse and analytics platform consolidating disparate environmental monitoring datasets across regional directorates. The solution established real-time automated ingestion pipelines, federated governance, and self-service geospatial reporting capabilities for inter-agency compliance.

The Challenge
The authority managed multi-petabyte datasets spanning water catchment quality, air particulate telemetry, soil contamination records, and high-resolution spatial mapping. These critical assets were fragmented across siloed on-premises legacy data warehouses, relational databases, and static file shares maintained by independent regional directorates, preventing holistic cross-domain analysis. Data ingestion workflows relied on scheduled batch file transfers and bespoke scripting, generating reporting lags of up to four weeks between field sensor collection and national analytical availability. Furthermore, the absence of standardised data governance frameworks and centralised metadata catalogues created widespread discrepancies in compliance auditing, strained legacy compute resources, and hindered inter-agency environmental policy planning.
Our Approach
CYVERRA VERIDION GROUP architected a secure, sovereign cloud data lakehouse utilising a medallion architecture to ingest, normalise, and enrich structured sensor data, vector spatial layers, and raster satellite imagery. Streaming telemetry from over 12,000 national monitoring stations was connected via managed event hubs and distributed processing pipelines, converting real-time telemetry into standardized spatial data partitions. CYVERRA established a federated data mesh governance framework integrating automated schema validation, centralized data lineage tracking, and attribute-based access controls to meet stringent public sector security guidelines. Optimized geospatial indexing engines and modular semantic data models were deployed, providing analysts across multiple civil agencies with direct, performant self-service querying and predictive spatial modeling capabilities through standardized BI and GIS interfaces.
The Outcome
The modernised cloud platform reduced national compliance reporting cycles from weeks to near real-time, enabling rapid incident response to environmental contamination events and comprehensive multi-factor ecological assessments. Automated data validation eliminated ingestion errors and provided public policy teams with a single, verifiable source of truth for statutory environmental audits. By democratising access to enriched geospatial assets, more than a dozen partner public sector bodies now run complex spatial queries independently without manual IT extraction bottlenecks. The migration to an elastic, cloud-native architecture also reduced infrastructure maintenance overhead while delivering horizontal scalability for nationwide sensor expansion programs.
