The Challenge

The client operated across twelve European markets, managing a hybrid fleet alongside contracted carrier networks. Disparate legacy Transport Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and telematics hardware generated high volumes of data trapped in isolated operational silos. Cross-docking facilities and regional dispatch teams relied on static, 24-hour batch reports that obscured real-time transit exceptions, border delays, and fleet capacity bottlenecks. Without an integrated streaming pipeline, operational planners struggled to accurately predict arrival times (ETAs) or identify systemic lane underperformance. The lack of standardisation led to inconsistent metrics across business units, high data engineering overhead, and frequent carrier SLA penalties resulting from preventable transit delays.

Our Approach

CYVERRA established a high-throughput, event-driven cloud data platform capable of processing telemetry streams, telematics sensors, and enterprise transactional records. Built on a medallion lakehouse architecture, raw telemetry data from onboard IoT devices, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and regional TMS nodes was ingested in real time via distributed streaming queues and staged for transformation. Our data engineering team deployed modular transformation models using dbt and distributed compute clusters to standardise disparate lane, cargo, and driver datasets into a unified logistics data model. On top of this layer, we implemented machine learning pipelines for predictive dynamic ETA calculation, fuel consumption anomaly detection, and automated freight capacity matching. Role-based semantic models and self-service BI dashboards were delivered to regional dispatchers and executive stakeholders. To ensure enterprise governance and compliance with European data privacy standards, CYVERRA implemented automated data lineage tracking, fine-grained access control policies, and continuous pipeline observability monitoring across the entire cloud data estate.

The Outcome

The cloud intelligence engine transitioned the organisation from retrospective batch analysis to near-real-time operational steering. Dispatchers and network planners gained live visibility into freight movements, reducing data ingestion and reporting latency from over 24 hours to under 45 seconds. This real-time intelligence enabled dispatch teams to proactively reroute shipments around border congestion and transit disruptions. Predictive capacity matching and enhanced ETA accuracy contributed to a measurable reduction in empty haul miles and penalty fees for missed delivery windows. The consolidation of redundant data infrastructure into a centralised cloud lakehouse also yielded substantial reductions in annual maintenance overhead while enabling rapid deployment of new analytical models.
